Some Fashion Fun With Chrissy’s Knee High Socks: A Review

As a younger adult, I used to be super into socks. I wouldn’t say I had a fetish, but I might have had an obsession. I remember relentlessly browsing the clearance section of Sock Dreams every week to see if they had added something new. My favorites were thigh highs, because I don’t know. They just seemed cool to me. Maybe some inner part of me wanted to train to be a prostitute or something.

But, I digress. I was recently contacted by the awesome people at Chrissy’s Knee High Socks to do a review of their socks. For nostalgia’s sake, I simply couldn’t say no. I was super excited to peruse a new generation of socks to see how they compared to the memories of my past.

The four pairs of socks I received to review.

I was graciously provided with four pairs of socks to review: black tube socks with teal accent stripes, black tube socks with neon green accent stripes, sunflower socks, and thigh high striped socks.

Right out of the package, I was impressed with the quality. I was a bit dubious about how well they would be made, as I always am when I order clothing off the internet for the first time. However, the socks appeared to be made of actual sock material, not some flimsy tissue paper that will snag on my toenail. Not only that, but they were beautiful! The colors and patterns matched the vibrant photos on their site, preventing any in-person discrepancy.

Black/Teal Tube Socks

To be honest, I was excited to try these tube socks because I needed some new socks to wear when playing hockey. However, the one disappointing factor is that they aren’t actually knee highs on me. This isn’t surprising; I have monstrous calves that belong to a steroid junky and I do have longer legs than most girls.

Regardless, I still think these are a fine pair of socks. I admire the way they look with a pair of tennis shoes.

I’m not sure if I can pull this look off in the real world, but it sure looks good in my apartment. However, I think they’d make a fine and feisty addition to any 5K or other fitness event.

Black/Neon Green Tube Socks

The green tube socks were very similar to the teal tube socks, but surprisingly… longer? Yes, a little bit. They came up a little bit higher on my calf. Just something to keep in mind if you’re rocking the 10,000-stairs-a-day calves like me. Other than that, the only difference I could perceive was the color. The construction and thickness were the same.

I think these might be better to wear under my hockey equipment, but honestly, both pairs of tube socks will work fine.

My level of seriousness in this photo is off the charts.

Again, I’m not sure exactly how I’d wear these on just a normal day. I think I need to investigate the fashion dos and don’ts of socks so I can ascertain how to avoid looking foolish.

Sunflower Knee Socks

Of course, I needed a pair of funky socks. What is life without funky socks? I liked the color and design of these ones, and they seemed like the most versatile to try and wear in real life. I almost went with the cat or the mermaid socks, but… I don’t think I’m hipster enough for that look.

These ones are a slightly different build than the tube socks. The material is a little thinner, which makes them lighter on your feet and legs. Also, these ones were much longer – they came up to my knees like they should. Perhaps they would be too long if you have stick legs? Not a problem in my eyes – then you have thigh high socks! Joking aside, these were quite comfy, and I almost didn’t want to take them off.

Vineyard Rainbow Striped Thigh High Socks

chrissy's thigh high socks reviewNow, the moment you’ve all been waiting for. I know the anticipation has been intense. It’s… the thigh highs.

As I slipped these onto my leg, letting the fabric slide up my calf, I had only one thought in mind.

Please, be long enough. Please, be long enough!

The moment of truth loomed imminently. I made the final push, stretching them over my knee.

Success!

Yes, the thigh high socks were long enough. They were actually thigh highs on me, which is something many “thigh high” socks cannot boast. These actually came a couple of inches above my knee, which was glorious. Perhaps even better, as I traipsed around my apartment trying to take sexy sock photos, they didn’t even slide down or shift position.

They were pretty comfortable, too. They had a little bit of a rougher texture than the other socks, but I think that’s just how striped socks look and feel.

Look, my prostitute training paid off!

But while thigh high socks are awesome… I’m just incredibly uncertain how to actually meld them into my existing wardrobe. I mean, the outfit I put together is nice, but would I ever wear that in front of another human being? Probably not. Either way, they are a nice addition to my collection.

Finals Thoughts on Chrissy’s Knee High Socks

Ok, final thoughts on Chrissy’s Knee High Socks… they’re nice, and if I wanted more socks, I would definitely order from them. I could really find no discernible flaws in the quality or construction of the pairs I was sent. They have a good selection of choices, all of which seem to look just like the pictures on their site. So, if you are hesitating about ordering from them… don’t be!
