Ways Wattsenglish Has Wronged Me #1

Throughout the past few months, I have been collecting evidence against my employer, Wattsenglish, to show ways in which they have misled and downright lied to me about terms of employment, living arrangements, job details, etc. In this new segment, I will reveal a new lie every so often, so that future employees of Wattsenglish can understand the crap they are getting themselves into. Working for Wattsenglish is not a walk in the park. Everything here is clearly supported by fact and evidence; I’ll save the non-evidentiary claims for when I am no longer employed with them.

Lie #1: Picking me up at the airport

Let’s start at the beginning of my journey – arriving in the Czech Republic. Wattsenglish promised to send a representative of their company to meet me 45 minutes after my arrival. Unfortunately for me, the airline lost my bag, and I had to go fill out a baggage claim form. However, I was only a few minutes late when I exited the baggage claim area… and didn’t see anyone. Sure, there were plenty of people holding up signs, but none of them referred to Wattsenglish. I didn’t even know the name of the person I was looking for or what they looked like.

So I moved off to the side, and waited, and waited… and eventually, after an extended period of waiting in a foreign country with a foreign language filled with foreign people all bustling around, I finally spotted an elderly couple that seemed to be staring at me. It turns out they were the right people! Or were they…? In actuality they were the non-English-speaking parents of the Wattsenglish coordinator I had been in touch with. Apparently NO ONE in the entire Wattsenglish organization was available to come pick me up, so she had to send her parents to do it. Also, they had been waiting at the wrong terminal for me, because apparently it’s too hard to read an Arrivals screen to see where the plane might be.
